Apart from efficient usage of energy, German Federal Government concentrates on renewable energy. With a percentage of 16% on power purchases in 2009 it has developed into an essential part of the German energy industry.
Facts about renewable energy in Germany in 2009
- 10.3% of energy consumption in total (2008: 9.3%)
- 16.1% of gross electricity consumption (2008: 15.2%)
- investment: 20 Billion € (2008: 15.3%)
- 108 Billion tons of Co² Emission avoided in total.
Until 2020 renewable energy is supposed to have a portion of 30% on power supplies.
